Financial Controller-Media Focus
Job Sector: Media | Salary: £70-80,000 plus bonus and benefits
Location: Central London
Global Accounting Network is recruiting for an international, SME media firm who are looking for a very strong number two to a top tier CFO.
Working in their London HQ, but with responsibility for finance globally, the Financial Controller will run the teams covering the full range of finance and accounting, such as transactional processing, cash management, tax, management reporting, financial reporting, audit, M&A.
This is a growing business and as such requires a very strong leader to see them through the change and development required as they expand globally. Already in over 15 countries, this is a complex business both operationally and financially and it requires a top calibre FC to drive best practice.
Once on board you will cast your eye over top to bottom finance, identifying areas for improvement, driving efficiency and tightening up on everything from billing to stat reporting. Finance Manager-International Scope

German Speaking Accountant

This Property Business Based in the City of London is looking for a Senior Accountant who can speak German. The role is based in London, but controlling a German and Turkish Legal Entity.
The position available is working within the accounting team in London supporting the German business. The Corporate accounting function is part of the shared service center for all of the EU property businesses. As such, the role of the accountant focuses very heavily on complex cost allocation and coding methods. The ability to manage workload with a high level of transactional detail is essential.
Corporate Accounting does not involve accounting for the property-owning companies, therefore experience in service center/cost center accounting or businesses is more relevant than experience in property accounting.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsibility for all aspects of Financial and Management Accounting for both entities
- Indirect Management of two accountants also located in London
- Liaison with HR Payroll coordinator for monthly payroll and payroll tax
- Monthly Balance Sheet control and reconciliations
- P&L variance analysis against annual budgets and qtly reforecasts with commentary
- Management of VAT Returns & other local taxation with close liaison with external experts
- Manage Local Annual Statutory Audit & Filings
- Manage other non- annual statutory filings relating to Germany & Turkey
- Providing support to the business during the qtly reforecasts and annual budgeting process
- Develop a good understanding of client revenue contracts as the basis of complex billing processes
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the property operational management team in order to support the business
- The candidate could be qualified or QBE, but must have experience of German GAAP, and strong financial accounting and reporting.

Financial Controller

Head of Finance - fast track to Finance Director

Global Accounting Network has been asked to find a Global Head of Finance for a very successful, international media firm. This company has 350 employees, operates across over 20 locations and has a fantastic portfolio of branded clients. This role is a number two to a very strong CFO and will have overall ownership of the finance function across the group.
Leading a large, international team and working closely with the operational heads, you will have responsibility for the top to bottom finance function. Everything from billing to board packs and from accounting to analysis. The business is well run, well thought of and well placed for growth. However, a good Head of Finance will be expected to challenge the assumptions, drive change across the global finance teams and tighten up on processes and controls where appropriate.
You will have the full backing of the CFO to plan and implement improvements across the global finance operations and will also be tasked with inspiring, leading and up-skilling the team of reports.
In addition as the company is growing both organically and acquisition, you will have a key role to play in enabling finance to deal with all of the changes that are approaching.

Senior Commercial Finance Manager
Job Sector: Events | Salary: £48,000 + bonus

This events business is looking for a Senior Commercial Finance Manager. The ideal candidate will be qualified ACCA/CIMA with lots of commercial experience.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Produce the monthly Management Accounts pack for each of the profit/loss centres responsible for, as co-ordinated by Head Office, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review line by line the costs with the management within the units, analysing the variances and exploring potential issues. Interrogate the data and challenge the management team, providing recommendations for change in order to exceed targets.
- Produce and deliver the monthly forecast in line with the agreed layouts in order to understand the impact. Providing detailed analysis and evidence to substantiate the assumptions made within the forecast (e.g. sales mix analysis). Analyse and identify variances between the actual versus forecast/plan on a monthly and year end outturn basis, supporting the management team in making improvements and enhancing business performance.
- Produce accurate weekly Profit & Loss accounts as per the Head Office timetable and format so that the financial performance of the business can be tracked and monitored. Hold weekly meetings with the onsite management teams to discuss the results and agree appropriate actions.
- Produce the relevant entries within the accounting software and complete a reconciliation of the sales sub system to the General Ledger to ensure accurate information is held within the financial systems.
- Manage, develop and motivate the team, setting clear objectives and reviewing performance, providing training when necessary in order to deliver a quality service to the business.
- Perform regular and timely review and approval of the Daily Sales Reporting (DSR), thereby being aware of how the business is performing and highlighting any potential issues to relevant parties.
- Manage the client reporting requirement as set out within the contract and by Head Office.
- Act as the champion/Project Manager for specific financial projects, (e.g. specific sales mix analysis) which will be implemented across the group and will further develop and enhance the financial performance of the operating business.
Assistant Financial Controller
Job Sector: | Salary: £55,000 to £65,000 plus 10% bonus

We are recruiting for an Assistant Financial Controller on a temporary basis for 6 months. This individual will currently be a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager who is ACA/ACCA qualified. They must have worked in businesses above £70 million turnover, with strong exposure to UK GAAP, and potentially US GAAP, as this is a US publishing firm. The year end is in December and this role starts on the first week of October, so it is essential this person has gone through a year end audit process, and can work with external auditors well. They must be good with systems, and will be involved with integrating acquisitions also. Strong at liasing with an FP&A team aswell.
Responsibilities will include:
- Line management of the Accounts Payable team including supervision of royalties, cash and management accounts. Ensure agreed financial and management reporting requirements are met on a timely basis and are relevant and accurate.
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are in place, reviewed each month and reconciling items are being resolved on a timely basis
- Senior contact point for the auditors, and assist with the annual audit process.
- Liaison with offices in India and Singapore which report into the UK parent
- Assist with the consolidation of results of subsidiaries and other undertakings.
- Review p&l and balance sheets on a monthly basis, understand and document variances.
- Provide management accounting support to operating business units and service functions
- Constantly evaluate and document processes and ensure adequate controls exist to minimize risk to the business.
- Review of payment runs.
- Ensure all accounting concepts are in line with UK and US reporting standards, with variances between the two GAAPS reconciled and understood
- Assist with tax queries and computations.
- Assist with business initiatives such as acquisitions and system implementations and enhancements.
Transaction Analysis Manager

We are recruiting for a Transactions Analysis Manager. This works in the non PFI area and covers financial modelling for a lot of Infrastructure work, for this large listed business. So if someone had been working on deals relating to buying an Airport, or raising finance to buy a bridge, this role would be ideal. The candidate must have extensive experience of doing complex modelling. They will be tested on this. They will be looking at the assets that this business has and doing refinancing on them. Anyone that has had exposure to debt/equity would be a plus Larger company background only the last person that was placed was from a Bank where has was doing complex modelling on the Transactions, though Big 4, Transaction Services/ Financial Modelling team would also be considered. Must be ACA/CIMA/ACCA or MBA qualified. The role will involve the following responsibilities: To provide analytical modelling and business advisory support to the Director of Asset Management and the Transaction Directors in their role of originating and transacting infrastructure investment opportunities To perform financial analysis and provide business advice in other ad hoc areas of Asset management activity, such as the commercial development of existing assets, refinancing and valuation of such and the development of future investment/investor platforms

Senior Commercial Analyst

This large International Service company is looking for a strong up and coming, CIMA/ACA/ACCA Accountants or Charter Financial Analyst to work in their corporate HQ in Hampshire.
The role will require the individual to develop business partnering relationships with key commercial stakeholders and provides financial analysis to support decision making and resource allocation.
Other duties include:
* Developing and implementing financial models across UK & European Divisions.
* Work with Bids team to deliver financial models for bids,
* Assist in developing data manipulation capability beyond the modelling of financial data, in order to support commercial decisions across the business.
* Deliver of a cost effective models that audit contract bases,
* Delegate authority over approved financial models,
* To maintain expertise in financial reporting requirements,
* Train and mentor others in the team.
The ideal candidate will have good academics and have worked for medium to large size companies. They must possess excellent financial modelling, communication and problem solving skills. They must have the ability to handle demanding and fluctuating workloads under pressure. Previous experience of working in bid team and statistical risk tools is desirable. Strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting policies and procedures is required. Someone who has a track record of innovative thinking in a dynamic ever-changing environment.
