Main responsibilities:

  • Completing the Group’s IFRS 16 accounting memorandum for sign off by the Group’s auditors. This will be a document setting out how the Group has implemented the new standard and will highlight the accounting judgements and the basis for each accounting judgement under IFRS 16.
  • Finalising the discount rate methodology.
  • Completing accounting technical papers as and when required by company’s external auditors and involving their external advisors if necessary.
  • Being the first point of contact for all accounting technical queries relating to IFRS 16 across the business.
  • Attending Steering Committee meetings and providing a regular update to key stakeholders on behalf of Group Financial Control.
  • Working closely with the Programme Manager to identify and develop the key milestones for Group Financial Control.
  • Monitoring and tracking project milestones and escalating as necessary to the Programme Manager on a regular basis.
  • Working closely with the IT IFRS 16 Project manager to ensure appropriate reports can be generated for commercial, financial reporting and tax reporting purposes.
  • Working closely with company's IT team to ensure timely and successful implementation and integration of associated software solutions to ensure compliance by 1 December 2019.
  • Developing and testing the processes, controls and systems to calculate the IFRS 16 adjustments and disclosures on transition and on-going.

We are working with an internationally-recognised media company that has grown substantially over the last few years by acquisition and organically. They are undertaking a large number of projects and this is one of the highest profile across the group. The main deliverable is to ensure the accurate and on-time implementation of the new IFRS16 standard into the group’s consolidated Group Financial Statements. You will also work closely with the IT team and the external software vendor to ensure appropriate reports can be generated for commercial, tax and financial reporting purposes.

  • Fully ACA (or equivalent) qualified: 4 years PQE
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS 16
  • Experience in Group consolidations and Group financial reporting for multi-currency/territory business
  • Excellent working knowledge of IFRS
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong presentation and report writing skills
  • Ability to present large amounts of data in user-friendly formats
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to problem solve and pre-empt problems
  • Able to travel within Europe
