Main responsibilities:

  • Manage and take ownership of employee expense claims, ensuring appropriate authorisation, receipts provided, correct coding for all expense claim items, and following up on employee queries.
  • Assist with completion of credit card reconciliations as well as monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support the Finance team in month / quarter end reporting and posting journals.
  • Help with the purchase ledger, ensuring invoices are paid to terms, suppliers are accurately set up on the system, and outstanding balances are chased and cleared.
  • Handle queries from office managers across the Group, in particular with POs
  • Help maintain the client account and raise fee notes to send to clients
  • Ad-hoc support such as dealing with accountants, payroll and supplier queries.
  • Identify process improvements within accounts payable and expense claims, and work with key members of staff (e.g. support staff, PAs etc.).
  • Preparation and processing of all office bills, applying in compliance with the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and VAT requirements

Global Accounting network has partnered up a very fast-growing Legal firm who are now looking for a Finance Assistant to join their team. You will be an integral part of a finance team supporting the Finance manager. This role is exceptionally exciting as the business grows, so will the responsibilities! This is a fantastic role for someone who is looking for that part-qualified steppingstone as the exposure that the successful candidate will attain is fantastic! There are also elements of analysis, financial modelling and business partnering.

Profile/Key skills and requirements of the role:

  • Experience of working as part of a small agile finance team.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-moving environment with a track record of identifying and driving improvements.
  • Responsive and adaptable team player that shows initiative and self-drive.
  • Strong IT skills (particularly Excel) 
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ideally have experience on Proclaim
