Main responsibilities:

  • Project & Team Leadership: Lead the successful delivery of projects and initiatives, overseeing a growing team of 25. Foster collaboration and encourage high performance across all areas.
  • Financial Management: Oversee financial planning and budget management, ensuring financial health while supporting the Fundraising Lead in increasing income generation.
  • People-Centric Culture: Cultivate a positive, people-first workplace culture that emphasises staff well-being and inclusivity. Inspire and motivate teams to collaborate effectively and excel in their work.
  • Strategic Growth: Navigate the organisation through growth and change, balancing innovation with operational rigor. Lead the organisation with agility, tackling challenges creatively and effectively.
  • Collaboration & Advocacy: Build and nurture relationships both within the organisation and with external partners to support our mission and vision.

We have partnered with an Art business to seek an experienced Managing Director to lead and shape the company’s growth. This individual will drive innovation, maintain operational rigor, and support a talented team of 25. As MD, you will oversee the delivery of our projects and initiatives while managing a diverse team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the organisation’s financial stability, increasing income generation, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence. Your leadership will be central to driving our mission and facilitating meaningful change for all those we serve.

Skills/experience required: 

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within arts or not-for-profit organisations.
  • Expertise in financial management, including budget oversight and resource allocation.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams, and in cultivating a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in non-profit operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • High resilience and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, delegate effectively, and manage resources efficiently.
