Main responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial statements in compliance with IFRS/GAAP.
  • Provide technical accounting expertise, including strong technical papers to support key judgments.
  • Lead the identification, design, and implementation of process automation and streamlining initiatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, ensuring smooth audit delivery and compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor robust financial controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Mentor, develop and lead a high-performing finance team
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and management, with a focus on working capital optimization.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A team to provide accurate and actionable financial insights.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes with technical expertise and data validation.
  • Work closely with Group tax, treasury, and internal controls functions on areas like tax compliance and hedging strategy.

Our client Listed business based in London. They are undergoing significant change across the business, with plenty of M&A activity completed and planned, as well as ongoing internal transformation. 

They urgently need an Interim Financial Controller to support the finance function for one of their divisions. You will play a significant role in leading financial operations, driving process automation, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. There are also a number of ad hoc projects to get involved in, as well as developing a robust controls environment, and support the growth of a high-performing finance team. 

Skills/experience required:

  • Ideally significant experience in a senior finance role in a divisional or group-level capacity at a PLC.
  • Good experience in improving financial systems and tools, as well as process automation experience.
  • A qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA) and likely to be from a Big 4 audit background.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and a proactive, innovative mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.

The role is based in London on a 2/3 days/week hybrid basis.

Initially 3 months but likely to extend, with a day rate of up to £600/day outside IR35, potentially with a bit of a stretch.
