We are so pleased to have Michaela Henshaw speaking our event this evening Celebrating Inspirational Women and Diversity in the Workplace.

After graduating in Management and Chemical Sciences from Manchester University in 1990, Michaela has enjoyed a highly successful corporate career over the last 25 years. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen, and during her tenure her projects sparked a passion for what became a 20 year career in the Retail sector.

On speaking at the event, Michaela said:

“I am delighted to have been asked to speak at the Global Accounting Network's evening celebrating inspirational women in the workplace.  The world is evolving at an ever-increasing pace, and businesses must embrace this change if they are to remain successful.  Diversity and flexibility are currently two hot topics in this evolution that I am very passionate about.  I therefore hope to both inspire and give you food for thought on both of these topics as I share the journey to triple the female FD population in Tesco.”

After 8 years at ASDA in various Finance roles, Michaela moved to Tesco where she has spent the last 13 years. She is a real advocate of the benefits of more diverse teams and individuals, and having been an FD herself, then embarked on a four-year journey as an HR Director in Tesco to build a more diverse talent pool for Finance. She successfully tripled both the female and non-white British origin FD populations, as well as more than doubling the level of high potential talent. She was appointed as the HR Director for Finance initially, but her remit quickly expanded to cover 12,000 colleagues globally across 5 functions, and her final role was as Transformation Director. Michaela now runs her own HR Consulting and Executive Coaching business. She has harnessed her unique blend of commercial experience and formal accreditations in coaching to pursue her real passion - supporting both businesses and individuals to “discover their true potential.”
