We are incredibly excited to have Susan Claris speaking at our event Celebrating Women and Diversity in the Workplace.

Susan is an Associate Director in Arup’s Transport Consulting Group, having worked with them for an impressive 22 years. Initially working with them in Cardiff until 2009, she completed a year in their Johannesburg location before moving to work in the London team. Susan’s transport planning

work has been mostly for public sector clients at both national and local levels, including part-time secondments, and has engaged with key stakeholders in many of her projects. She is Chair of Arup’s Connect Women group for the UK, Middle East and Africa region, predominantly working for gender balance. Susan is also a trustee for Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking. On speaking at our event celebrating Diversity in the Workplace, Susan said:

“I am really looking forward to attending and speaking at the global Accounting Network Women’s Leadership Event. The business case for diversity is clear. More diverse teams make better decisions, are more creative, and are better at problem-solving. We work hard to create an inclusive environment so that we can embrace skills, talent, and knowledge that a diverse workforce delivers.”

For the fifth consecutive year, Arup has been named in “The Times Top 50 Employers for Women”, formally recognising the firm as one of the top 50 companies in the UK that are leading the way in gender equality in the workplace. Susan commented “being named for the fifth time highlights our continued efforts to encourage and empower all employees, irrespective of gender, race, or sexuality, to perform to their fullest potential and contribute to the greater goal of the firm. We still have a way to go, as a firm and as an industry, but awards like this inspire us to keep the momentum going.”
